rhinectomy zygomatic implant xrayWe have been providing complex rehabilitation treatments using zygomatic implants within the department of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics in Liverpool, Merseyside for 10 years now. We routinely use zygomatic implants for patients who require removal of their external nose (Rhinectomy) in order to support a facial prosthesis and for patients who have maxillary tumours (tumours of the hard palate, sinuses, maxillary alveolus) and require rehabilitation with either a fixed dental prosthesis following free flap reconstruction or to support a precision-retained maxillary obturator.

Zygomatic implants are placed under general anaesthesia either at the same time as the tumour is removed or secondarily to rehabilitate the patient at a later date.
